ので"NO!" Daybecause/since/the reason is...

Linkword Stories:

What's your favorite holiday? Mine's International "NO!" Day.

On International "NO!" Day you can answer "No" to anything anyone asks of you unless they remember to give you a reason when they ask.

"Can I borrow a pen?", your classmate asks from the desk next to you. But they forgot to give you a reason! Your answer? "NO!"

So your classmate asks you again, "Can I borrow a pen, because if I don't fill out this test in the next 5 minutes I'll be expelled from school." But it's too late. They've already asked the question.

"Sorry," you reply wryly, "but you should have remembered that today is International 'NO!' Day. You'll just have to find a new school." What were they thinking?!

On the way to your car, you see a man begging for change. "Hey buddy, can you spare a buck?"

Proudly you respond, "NO!"—perhaps a bit too happily judging by the confused look on the man's face. "You see, I can say 'No' because you didn't give me a reason why I should give you my money." you explain patiently.

"Since I don't have a job, I need money to feed my 7 kids." the man explains, pointing to group of hungry-looking children.

"Oh, come on buddy. You know it's too late now. Maybe if you ask me tomorrow!" You stroll off laughing to yourself. What a joker that guy was.

On your drive home a police car turns on its siren behind you. You pull over and the officer approaches your vehicle.

"License and registration, please."

"NO!" you shout, breaking out into maniacal laughter. What luck! Only you would have the good fortune to get pulled over on International "NO!" Day.

"Excuse me?" replies the officer. He seems confused. "I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the vehicle."

"NO!" you interject again, inbetween chuckles. This is just too fun.

But just as you're wondering what the officer will ask you next, he pulls his sidearm and points it directly at you. "I am not asking you now! I am ordering you out of your vehicle! Keep your hands where I can see them!"

What? This isn't part of the rules for International "NO!" Day. Do you have the wrong day? Maybe International "NO!" Day is actually tomorrow? No, you couldn't have made a mistake. It's your favorite holiday after all.

"Officer, I was saying 'No' because it's International 'NO!' Day. I can say 'No' to anything anyone asks if they don't give a reason why they're asking..."

As the police officer places you in handcuffs, you begin to wonder just how well-known International "NO!" Day really is. Maybe it's not so international after all...
