It seems like there are more and more personal development programs available today, each claiming to be the 1 true way to the top. Just go into any book store and you'll find shelves of books, each showing you a different way to live your life. Each promises that if you do it their way, that you'll rise above the rat race and overcome all of your troubles. And all the gurus claim that their way is superior to all of the others.
One interesting commonality I've found is in the story that each guru tells about how they came into possession of their unique wisdom. Each had lost his or her way along the path of life in some way or another. And then, through some flash of insight—like divine inspiration from above, entering through the top of their skull—they found the true way.
Why are we humans so prone to look above us for guidance? You know what I say every time someone claims to have found the perfect way to do anything?
"No way."
