What's the best way to extract information from an enemy during wartime? Contrary to what the executive branch of the United States government thinks, it's not torture. No, as any kid will tell you, it's the dreaded G.I. Joe hold.
The Joe hold is a sort of sleeper hold. You perform it by getting behind your victim, wrapping your arm around their neck, and clamping down until they spill some interesting bit of news.
Whether or not this hold has ever been used by real G.I.s is a controversial subject. To get more information on this issue, we need to consult 11-year-old Billy O'Neal.
Reporter: Billy, has the G.I. Joe hold been used in real combat situations?
Billy: YEAH! It's awesome. You grab the enemy like this (demonstrating) and you hold 'em 'till they talk!
Reporter: (gasping) OK, Billy. But how exactly does this get information from someone? It seems more likely to just choke them.
Billy: Cos you gotta do it like a real Joe. (begins singing the G.I. Joe theme song) Spill it, COBRA agent!
Reporter: (turning blue) OK, OK, I'll talk! I'll get you the information you want! Just don't sing that song anymore!
