Linkword Stories:

When the blood bank was calling for blood donations people turned out in droves leaving the staff harried and upset. By the time David sat down in the chair his phlebotomist was in a terrible mood. David’s veins were hard to find and finally the phlebotomist just popped the needle in his arm in a fit of anger and the blood began filling the tube.

David seethed in anger, thinking cruel thoughts about what he would like to do to the guy who had treated him so carelessly; he didn’t have to give his blood in the first place! The last thing these people should be doing is making their volunteers feel angered and worthless. David felt horrible anger until his arm stopped throbbing and he decided he wouldn’t be giving blood again anytime soon.

A few weeks later he got a call from a researcher who asked to meet with David.

“Do you commonly experience overwhelming feelings of anger?” the researcher asked.

“Everybody feels anger sometimes. Why?” David asked.

“Everyone who was given your blood experienced severe bouts of anger. Some of them even attacked the medical staff!” the researcher explained.

“My blood gave them anger?” asked David, stunned. “How is that possible?”

“The only thing we can figure is that you were somehow so full of anger that it polluted your system right down to your blood.”

“So in essence even my blood felt my anger?

“Exactly.”

David started practicing meditation to reduce his anger levels; he was also banned from giving blood.
